LinkedIn – Sort your profile out!

We’ve all heard about LinkedIn, but it’s starting to get right on my nerves when people ask to connect with me on it, I then look at their profile and it’s CRAP! No photo, no information, just CRAP.

Come on guys, do yourself a favor, those first impressions count. You’ll be doing yourself a favour in the long run.

Anyway, that’s my rant over, lets turn this negative spat into a positive. I’ve put together a little LinkedIn guide to help all you wonderful people just starting out on LinkedIn to get a 100% complete profile, or at least guide you on the important bits to update. If you’re one of the few with a crap (technical term) LinkedIn profile – don’t say I never give you anything.

This guide might even be helpful if you just want to spruce up your profile with new achievements or projects you’ve started this year.

A little bit about LinkedIn

For those of you that don’t know much about LinkedIn, where have you been?

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with over 250 million members, there’ll probably be a few more members joined up by the time you’ve finished reading this post.

LinkedIn connects you to your trusted contacts and helps you exchange knowledge, ideas, and opportunities with a broader network of professionals. LinkedIn is a great way showcase your expertise too, so everyone can see what you’re good at professionally.

The great thing about LinkedIn is that it’s FREE and a perfect tool for networking and generating referrals, it also helps with keeping your database of contacts up to date, a bit like an online little black book.

LinkedIn has the ability to let you locate and interact with experts. You can also take a look at bigger professional networks by name, title, company, location, and other keywords that will help you find the knowledge you’re looking for.

If that’s too much to take in, have a look at the video below, it should make things a bit clearer.

Let me know what you think about LinkedIn. I’d also love to know if anyone has had any success stories via LinkedIn, job offers, business opportunities etc. Feel free to share the love with this guide too!
